Upper School English Teacher

Location: Studio City, CA

Do you have experience framing and leading textual inquiries and discussions? Do you have rich knowledge of great literature, old and new? If so, apply for our teaching position in the English Department at the Upper School (grades 10-12)! We’re looking for an English teacher who is passionate about growing their skill base in helping students discover and deepen their interpretive ideas in spoken and written word.

As an English Teacher, you will:

  • Teach four sections and have two course preparations (grades and courses have yet to be determined);
  • Guide students in composing and revising argumentative essays.
  • Evaluate students in all facets of their work.
  • Regularly collaborate with colleagues to evolve curriculum and determine best practices.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in English or a similar field; graduate degree preferred.
  • Ability to teach across literary genres and traditions.
  • Strong communication skills and team-player attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate seminar-style discussions and to foster a safe, innovative, and creative learning environment.
  • Ideal candidates will be excited to become part of our vibrant school community, broadly engaging with students and colleagues and attending events outside their particular field of study.

Compensation: Anticipated base compensation is $85,000-$110,000, depending on experience. The position will begin in August 2025.
